That Old Guy - Lynn's blog
The end of a season!
As this season ends, (Coffee Shop Author, writing season) It brings me to the other seasons people in general talk about all year long. POLITICS, YUK. but it is here and I would urge all to take the effort and vote. It is a privilege that so many people in the world don't have. Oh, and there is another item to be mentioned with seasons, WEATHER, YUK and YEA. this year seems to have more YUK than Yea in Swan Hills. As of this date, April 30, 2011 we still have mountains of snow still afraid to melt. Every time the world rotates it seems to wobble and place a cloud between the sun and us.
Home Again
Bin gone - seems like forever - now home - seems like we never left!
Winter Wonderland?
I don't know what happened to that warm air aloft for the winter wonderland town of Swan Hills. The Snow keeps getting deeper and the temperature stays in the - twenties. The Ugly Mug continues to be very busy on the days I want to sit and write. It is a quandry as they love the customers as much as they love me. What to do? What to do? Will I ever find an answer? You bet, there is a connecting doorway into the hardware, I'll set up there and watch the customers enter with anticipation and leave satisfied. Me too!
Blowing & Snowing
Lots of weather here today, Madeline made it downtown but I said to heck with that, I'm ready to hibrinate until April. I know that won't happen but both me and my dog will stay indoors until someone or something chases me out.
I spent a lot of winters outdoors in BC, Alberta and the territories on sysmic crews. One winter we started our equipment after xmas and didn't shut it off until mid February. There were a few days that we were forced to not work because the temp dropped 40 degrees below o F. Nowdays I find I can't take the cold like I used to. I'm fine with that.
Jan 01, 11 & only -7
If you like uncommen weather, Swan Hills is the place to be this year. With the higher elevation compared to the rest of the province, excluding the rockies, we reap the benifit from warmer air aloft. Seems were 5 degrees warmer than Slave Lake and Whitecourt, two towns we happen to be between, on a daily basis. Edmonton seldom referes to our tempetures as it is out of sync with what they deem to be right. One thing for certain about our weather that proves true more often than not is that we have it.
and what have YOU done???
Just a note to say "Yes that Old Guy (TOG) Lynn is here, just busy. Lots went on over the summer, we (my wife Madeline and myself) sold our home on 44 Derrick but did not want to leave Swan Hills so we bought a house trailer and a serviced lot. Having it moved on from the dealer in Red Deer then doing the hook-ups plus building a deck and doing the skirting took a tremendous amount of time. I changed Madelines' name to Madatlynn by the time all was complete. BUT there is defiantly an advantage to being a Jack of All Trades.
Another year, still here!
Delighted to know this contest is again running. I informed "The Ugly Mug" in Swan Hills that I would again become a fixture at their laptop counter for the winter. They like that. Nice to see JAW's in as well. I have started a series of short stories for this contest.
While the ideas are flowing fast and furious they leave me with a lot of typing to accomplish. One item about this site I greatly enjoy is the personal blog space. I can make a fool of myself in different places.
Good to be back;
TOG - Lynn
